Our Roots: Ned & Diddy
Ned Wells Robinson and Rosie Anna Hall Robinson, who was called “Diddy” were proud parents of eleven (11) children and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and very gratifying cousins of many kin folks. Roots actually began in Bolton, a small rural town in Mississippi.
I was told that Grandpa Ned and Grandma Diddy wanted to buy their own land so their children and offsprings could have a place to call home. In the 1800’s they bought two hundred (200) acres of land from a white land owner named Frank Goddis who owned the town of Bolton and the surrounding farm areas.
Ned, Diddy and their children worked the farm land and made many crops. Some of the children eventually left Bolton and spread from coast to coast and nation to nation but never forgot where their roots began. For these reasons, our family today is like a tree planted by the waters because so many of the children and their families remained on the home land. Psalms 1:3 tells us “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither and what so ever he doeth shall prosper.” So Ned and Diddy brought forth their fruit and the spreading of their roots continue.
As history dictates, no family can truly be united unless we come together as a whole. With that thought in mind, Ceolia “Doll” Robinson Harper saw the need for our family to get better aquainted. In 1979, Doll planned and organized our FIRST “Family Gathering” at the Mount Olive Community Center.
After the first family gathering in 1979, the family members that attended said, “LET’S DO IT AGAIN!!” to bring together many more family members. Then in 1980, the first family reunion began at the Sam Center. Committees were formed and many members took active parts. They put together our family tree and the researching of our family history began. Over the next 15 years the family had in some form or fashion united not merely for social and fun reasons, but for educational and informational purposes as well. Our history has been presented to the family in a well structured and accurate outline. We have traced our history back to Ned and Diddy Robinson. We want to continue to trace further with the help of our knowledgeable older family members and friends. Because our family is built on faith and trust in God, God alone has kept us together these many years. Our family is that tree planted by the waters and that spreadeth out her roots by the river and shall not see heat cometh buy her leaf shall be green and shall not be careless in the years of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
WE ARE ALWAYS DIGGING DEEP!!

Our family members have made numerous accomplishments and we take pride in all of their successes. The Robinson Family is like a book filled with rich and unexplored pages. From doctors, lawyers, teachers, designers, medical workers, builders, models, farmers and nurses just to name a few. We should examine all of the accomplishments that have been made for a better tomorrow as an inspiration to all of us as we look toward the future.
